Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa is the famous half-length painting by Leonardo da Vinci.

The painting is of a woman Lisa Gherardini the wife of Francesco del Giocondo.

The painting has a measurement of 77cm×53cm.

It was under production from 1503-1506 and probably even till 1517.

This painting is considered an archetypal masterpiece of Italian Renaissance.


It is believed to be the best known, the most visited, the most sung about, the most written about and the most parodied work of art in the World.

The Mona Lisa is one of the most valuable paintings in the world and it has a Guinness World record for the highest known insurance valuation in history at US$100 million as at 1962 which was equivalent to US$660 million in 2019.


This painting has survived for more than 500 years.
