Idanre Hills.

The hills of Idanre is an ancient monument found in Ondo State in the southwest region of Nigeria, about 300 kilometers from Lagos.

The hills are about 680 steps from the bottom to the peak with mysterious handwritings etched into the rock, which have never been decoded.

On the hill also is a magical footprint known as Agboogun’s footprint that is believed to fit any foot put in it.

This hill is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Nigeria.

It includes cultural sites such as “Owa’s Palace, Shrines, Old Court, Belfry, thunder water (known as Omi Apaara) and burial mounds and grounds”.

It is 3000 ft(914.4meters) above sea level.

At the entrance of the hill is a great tree at the entrance of the ancient city of Idanre called the IRAYE TREE.

The Perret’s toad zoologically known as Amietophrynus perreti, or the Perret’s toad, is found in the Idanre hills.

The Idanre hill was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in October 8, 2007, in the cultural category.
