USA adds Nigeria to its Blacklist on Religious Freedom.

The United States Government has officially announced that Nigeria is now the newest member of its Blacklist on Nations where freedom of religion is abused.

The Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo stated this during a briefing at the White House on Monday.

“The U.S. is unwavering in its commitment to religious freedom. No country or entity should be allowed to persecute people with impunity because of their beliefs. These annual designations show that when religious freedom is attacked, we will act.” – Mike Pompeo

Other countries in this “blacklist” include: China, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and a host of others.

According to the US Government, these countries actually violate the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998, which seeks to uphold religious equity and freedom of religion.
