Meet James Christopher Harrison.
He was born on 27th December 1936.
He is an Australian man who has donated blood for a record of 1,173 times.
He had a surgery when he was 14 years old and he vowed to donate blood to others.
Soon, it was discovered that his blood had some unique properties.
Fast forward to several years later, and his unusual blood plasma composition has been used to formulate a treatment for Rhesus disease and Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn.
He donated blood for the last time on 11th May 2018.
It was his 1,173rd donation.
According to Australian law, he could no longer give blood out of concerns for his safety because he had reached the age of 81.
Today, virtually every Anti-D injection in Australia, is synthesized from James’ blood.
Through his heroic deeds, he has saved the lives of over 2.4 million babies.
Through contributions from researches conducted on his blood, today we have commercial Anti-D Immune Globin, which is popularly called RhoGAM.

Don’t worry much because plasma has a different donation rule from red cell donation.
You can actually donate plasma at a rate of once every four weeks.
