The vanishing Lady is an 1896 short French Film by Georges Melies.
In the movie, a magician walks onto a stage with his female assistant.
He demonstrates that no trap door or escape route is hidden underground or around the stage by placing a newspaper on the floor.
He then places a chair on the stage and his assistant sits on it. He places a blanket over her.
As soon as the blanket is removed, we notice that she has disappeared.
The magician the summons a skeleton and places the blanket over it.
As soon as he removes the blanket, the assistant is seen again.
