Shroud of Turin: the proposed burial cloth of Jesus Christ

The Shroud of Turin also known as the Holy Shroud is a 14 foot piece of linen measuring 4.4 by 1.1m, with a negative image of a man imprinted on it.

The man is said to have the marks of crucifixion.

Most Christians believe it is the image of Jesus Christ on the Shroud, others believe that it was the dress he was wore after the crucifixion, just before his burial.

Despite the radiocarbon dating in 1988 that concluded that the Shroud dates back to 1260 and 1390 AD, thus not in anyway linked to Jesus, Christians still hold on to the fact that it is an image of their saviour.

Other speculations have it that the Shroud might just be one of Leonardo da Vinci’s creations.

Well, religious people tend to hold on to anything that uplits their religion while scientists always try to negate and downtrend such act.

The Shroud of Turin might just be another tussle between science and religion, who knows?
